Residents of Vilnius apartment buildings can now enjoy tidier and more comfortable yards – last year, 46 new cellular car parks were installed in the capital. parking lotsThey can accommodate about 340 cars. The asphalt surfaces and sidewalks in the yards have been renovated, which ensures both more comfortable and safer movement.
"Last year, we launched an ambitious program to maintain apartment courtyards. In just one year, we prepared and coordinated with residents a project to repair 46 squares and carried out maintenance work. We installed cellular parking lots in the courtyards - this is a quick solution that allows us to improve both the aesthetics and functionality of the courtyards," says the Mayor of Vilnius. Valdas Benkunskas.
Installing cellular courtyards is a simple yet effective way to adapt old apartment building courtyards to the current needs of residents. Concrete cellular pavements not only look neat, but also allow rainwater to drain naturally, reducing the risk of flooding and environmental pollution.
Before the start of the maintenance work, municipal specialists visited each yard, presented the planned work and listened to the opinions of residents. 34 meetings were organized, in which almost 600 residents participated. If the residents approved the proposed solutions, the work was started immediately.
Last year, small sites were being developed, for which simplified projects were sufficient, and they were arranged by simple repairs. This year, larger sites will be developed, for which construction permits are being issued.
It is planned to renovate 66 yards during the year and install cellular parking lots with 1620 parking spaces. The lots will be installed in Justiniškės, Pašilaičiai, Fabijoniškės, Karoliniškės, Žirmūnai, in New Vilnius, Šeškinė, Šnipiškės, several yards will be cleaned up in Verkiai, Lazdynas, Wolffoot, in Viršuliškės, in Antakalni, in New City, In Pilaite, Grigiškės, Naujininkai.
First, the most problematic yards were selected, and efforts are being made to distribute the renovation of yards evenly throughout the city. The parking lots are being installed in those areas of yards where cars are parked and there are no underground utilities.
"Our goal is for Vilnius to be a city where everyone can live well. Tidier apartment building courtyards are just one of the measures that allow us to move in this direction," the city mayor emphasizes.
