Already from July 1 In Vilnius, some car parking zones are changing, as well as new areas that have not been taxed so far.
Taking into account the residents' requests and the occupation of the zones, the Vilnius City Council approved the updated boundaries of the toll zones back in May, and from July 1. implementation works begin.
The boundaries of the existing local toll zones are adjusted where the higher and lower rate toll zones merge, thus providing more free places for residents.
To the yellow toll zone from July 1. the following territories will be included: territory of Rasa colony, territory of Šnipiškii, Tuskulėnai-Rinktinės-Šeimyniškii triangle. And separate streets are included in the green toll zone: Antakalnis, Žirmūnu, Minties, S. Žukauskos, J. Kubiliaus, Žygios, Lakūnu, Pelesas.
Several toll zones will also be adjusted:
- The following places will be changed from the green to the yellow toll zone: A. Vivulskio St., (in the area bounded by Savanorių Ave., Kedrų, T. Ševčenkos St.), Vingis Park territory, Šeiminiškių ir Sporto St.;
- From the green to the red toll zone: parking spaces at V. Kudirka St., Malonioji St., Pušu St.;
- From the yellow to the red toll zone: Krakuvos st. (between Kalvarijų St. and Rinktinė St., near the Registry Center);
- Sluck st. (part from Šeimyniškių towards Krakuvas st.);
- From the yellow to the blue toll zone: Subačius, A. Strazdelio str., Šv. Spirits.
The most convenient way to pay for parking is to pay with the mobile app after selecting the automatic location function. There are even three apps operating in Vilnius - "m.Parking", "UniPark" and "Parkman". Parking can also be ordered via SMS, but in this case additional operator fees apply, while paying with a bank card through the app - no additional fees apply.
For those who do not have mobile apps, parking can be paid for at the nearest parking meter. It is reminded that after entering the car's parking number, it is not necessary to add a parking meter receipt to the car.
Memo for drivers
These changes will come into effect on July 1 of this year. For residents who have valid resident permits, the permits will be valid until the end of their validity, they will not need to apply for the validity of the permit separately.
It is expected that some street changes will be completed by July 5. It is a reminder that the toll must be paid according to the valid signs, so before paying, drivers must check whether they have identified the correct toll zone. For example, if there are still signs marking the green toll zone on the street, there is no need to pay according to the new rates. The new toll zone will come into force only when the road signs and other information proving the toll zone change in the specified places.
In areas where there were no toll zones, tolling works will take longer due to their additional preparation, for example, installation of parking meters, etc. When the streets are ready and have all the necessary signs, informing drivers will begin. During the transition period, drivers who park their cars in the newly taxed zones will be warned by information messages.
Residents will be able to purchase long-term parking permits only when the zones are fully prepared - road signs marking the toll zone, etc. will be placed in them. Until then, residents do not need to worry and do not need to order permits in advance. The easiest way to order a resident's permit is through the government's electronic portal, the request is processed no longer than 5 days
