In the summer, the boundaries of some parking zones in the city will be changed. In some places, parking will become more expensive, but there is also good news for residents: there will be more parking spaces for general use.
There will be more paid parking lots on the streets of Vilnius. The following places will be included in the yellow toll zone: the territory of the Rasa colony, the territory of Šnipiškii. Separate streets are included in the green toll zone: Antakalnis, Žirmūnu, Minties, S. Žukauskos, J. Kubiliaus, Žygios, Lakūnu, Pelesas.
Some toll zones will be changed from cheaper to more expensive zones. A. Vivulskio st., (in the area bounded by Savanorių pr., Kedrų, T. Ševčenkos st.), Vingis park territory, Rinktinės st., Šeimyniškių ir Sporto st. will be changed from green to yellow zone. V. Kudirkas st., Malonioji st., Pušu st. will be added to the red zone from green, and Krakuvos st. will change from yellow to red. (between Kalvarijų St. and Rinktinė St., near the Register Center) boundaries. The following will be added from the yellow to the blue toll zone: Subačiaus, A. Strazdelio g., Šv. Dvasios str.
The parking order at the institutions will also change. Part of the "Reserved" parking signs will be replaced with short-term parking signs. In these places, residents will be able to park their cars for a period not exceeding 2 hours. In this way, residents, when visiting various city institutions, will not have to look for free or cheaper parking spaces and will be able to leave their cars right next to the institution for free.
The changes were adopted so that, if necessary, it would be convenient to arrive by car in the central part of the city. Changes in the toll zone should encourage people to use alternative means of transport. It is expected to reduce congestion in the city centre.
Although JSC,,Communication services” assures that the prices of paid parking lots will not increase, but their inclusion in more expensive toll zones automatically means a higher fee for parking. So, starting July 1, drivers will have to pay more to leave their vehicles in downtown parking lots. It is already clear on the map that almost all of Vilnius old town is included in the blue and red zones.
