Vilnius city municipality informs that In Pilaite it is planned to reconstruct the section of Papilėnai Street, which connects to Pilaitės Avenue. The traffic light intersection of Papilėnai and Vydūnas streets is planned to be reconstructed into a roundabout. The project envisages the installation of new lighting supports with LED-type lamps, which would ensure the illumination of the roadway and sidewalk. Pedestrian crossings are provided with directional lighting.
"The project envisages framing the carriageway of Papilėnai Street with new curbs, leaving one lane from Pilaitė Avenue to the intersection, to the shopping center under construction, the width of this lane is 4,0 m, two-way traffic is planned from the intersection - two lanes are planned, traffic lanes width 3,25 m. The intersection of Vydūnas and Papilėnai streets is planned to be transformed from a traffic-controlled intersection into a roundabout. The diameter of the ring is 26 m, the width of the asphalt concrete surface in the ring is 6,75 m, the width of the part paved with granite pavers is 2,25 m. The traffic lanes at the entrances/exits are separated by islands, pedestrian crossings with a width of 4 m are planned," the project proposals say about the reconstruction of the street.
