After the local quarantine restrictions came into effect, the municipality invites residents to plan responsibly for the upcoming Halloween weekend, assess their health status and risks, especially for older people with various chronic illnesses. In turn, the municipality made sure that on November 1-2 public transport would run more often, and the traffic organization at the approaches to the Rokantiškii, Saltoniškii, Karveliskii and Kairėnai cemeteries was changed. Public order at the entrances to the cemetery will be supervised by officers who will not only take care of flow regulation, but will also remind about the need to use personal protective equipment and keep distances in public places.
About the fact that during the pandemic it is not necessary to visit cemeteries specifically on All Saints' and All Saints' Day, a whole decade can be set aside for this, the Church recently urged the country's believers as well.
What will be public transport changes in movement and order?
We remind you of the necessary safety measures in public transport, at the stops. Passengers are required to wear protective face masks, except for children under 6 years of age. It is necessary to keep a distance of at least 1 meter, to take seats in buses and trolleybuses. In every vehicle, it is necessary to disinfect hands when getting on and off - all buses and trolleybuses are equipped with updated disinfectant liquid dispensers, thorough disinfection and cleaning of public transport continues.
As All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day approaches, it will be more convenient for passengers to reach the cemeteries in Vilnius by public transport:
- From October 24 until November 2 37th, 38th, 63rd, 114th and 115th route buses will run more often.
- From October 24 until November 2 Buses of route 88 will additionally stop at Tyzenhauzai stops.
- From October 31 until November 2 buses of the 2nd route and trolleybuses of the 2nd, 7th, 16th and 19th routes will run more often.
- October 31 - November 2, until 22 p.m. due to the large number of visitors to the cemetery and heavy traffic at the Rokantiškii cemetery entrances, the route of the 115th bus route will change.
Route 115 buses heading towards New Vilnius will drive to the Rokantiškės stop, where they will turn around and continue on the roundabout - Viršupis, Milda and S. Bator streets, and after entering Pramonės street, they will return to their route. Driving along the changed route to New Vilnius, buses will stop at the Klonis, Rokantiškii sodai, Žilvičiai, Uosii sodi, Duburis, Kalnos, Parparčiai, Uosii, Albert Kojelavičiaus and Dūmė stops. On the changed route to New Vilnius, buses will additionally stop at Lyglaukii, Šilo, Viršupis, Milda, Pūčkiori atodanga, Pūčkiori, Steponas Bator and Leliju stops. Back to Antakalnis, buses will run on the usual route.
How will traffic organization change?
November 1-2 Parking will be prohibited near the bus stops, roundabouts, and entrance gates of the Rokantiškii, Saltoniškii, Karveliskii and Kairėnai cemeteries. Also, on the mentioned days, the organization of traffic at the Rokantiškii, Karveliškii, Saltoniskii, Kairenai cemeteries will change, traffic will be diverted along bypass routes.
November 1-2 from 8 a.m. to 22 p.m. the following traffic restrictions near the cemetery are foreseen:
- Transport traffic to the Rokantiškii cemetery from Steponas Bator will be directed through the New Vilnius district, along A. Kojelavičiaus, Siorių, Uosii, Kalno and Rokantiškiu streets. Cars will be able to be parked in parking lots and roadsides, where they do not obstruct traffic and there are no road signs prohibiting parking.
- The organization of traffic to the Kairėnai cemetery will change - car traffic from the side of Nemenčinės highway from Kairėnai street will be diverted by a detour at Šilėnai street, and from Plytinės street to the cemetery one-way traffic will be established.
- The traffic organization at the approaches to the Karveliškii cemetery will change. Those going to the Karveliški cemetery through the Pilaitė district with their own transport will be able to get to the cemetery not on the main road, but on the surrounding road, located 1 km from the main entrance, going towards Sudervė. It is recommended to enter the Karveliški cemetery from Vilnius district sides of the municipality of Sudervė ward. This cemetery can also be reached by leaving your car at the "Park and Ride" parking lot in Žvēryna (Sēlių st. 62) or by bus route 63.
- November 1 Traffic will be prohibited on Đžuolynos street, at the Saltoniškių cemetery, except for public transport traffic.
Road users are asked to be careful, to follow the traffic rules and the instructions of the traffic controllers.
It is especially important not to leave cars that would create an obstacle and interfere with smooth traffic, especially public transport. November 1-2 police forces will patrol the cemetery.
