The chaos of the last pre-holiday days. Crowded shops. Institutions are in a hurry to get the annual papers done as quickly as possible and rush as early as possible. There are traffic jams and police raids on the streets. Police are already working with increased forces and during the holiday week they will be on duty not only at gathering places, but will intensively check drivers to make sure they are not drunk or under the influence of drugs at the wheel. Officials advise not to even try to risk it, because there will be a lot of raids.
The last days before the holidays, so the rush has reached its peak. Almost running away, the people of Vilnius say that besides the holidays, there are also other things pressing - bills, contracts, outstanding debts, deadlines.
"There are always jobs, and the most at the end of the year," said the interviewer.
"I manage my payments, negotiate new contracts, terminate others," said a woman interviewed in the Vilnius municipality.
It seems like the last working day before the holiday. People themselves are wondering how the institutions will work next week - Monday and Friday - and whether they will work at all.
"Perhaps he will take the exits," thought the woman.
"Next week, only to prepare for the New Year," said another interlocutor.
"We encourage the employees themselves to take days off if there is a need. We have said that it is not necessary to simulate working from home on those days, so we will not allow working from home on Monday and Friday," said Adomas Bužinskas, director of the administration of the Vilnius municipality.
If you take Monday and Friday off, you will have as many as 9 days of vacation. However, according to A. Bužinskas, despite the fact that the flow of workers in the municipality itself will be lower, there will be no work in the city due to the holidays.
"It certainly won't be like this, if you park in the city and don't pay for parking, you won't get a fine. The city will work, the waste will be removed," he assured.
Not only to take care of the last things or buy gifts, but some of them are already leaving the city, so the festive traffic jams in Vilnius started to form from 14 p.m.
"By comparison, it shouldn't be at such an hour yet," the driver is convinced.
"Very, even the nerve is taking," said another.
"I was thinking that 4-5 will start, but as of now, you probably don't have any gifts yet," the man thought.
"To drive, to buy something, to prepare as it should be," the interlocutor is confident.
Working age for carriers as well.
Not only to take care of gifts, but also food - during Christmas almost none of the stores will be open, they will be open for a shorter period of time on Christmas Eve.
"There are a lot of cars, especially in the center, so if possible, it is best to choose a bicycle, even in winter," the driver is convinced.
"It's the same time last year and the year before," said another.
The part is open, will start the festive marathon from Friday night or from this weekend. Others, who will need to leave, will postpone their trips to another day in order to protect their nerve cells.
The police are also ready for the festive week - reinforced forces have been mobilized.
"We never disclose the number, officers will work as much as necessary. Only more officers will be working than on normal days," said Ramūnas Matonis, a representative of the Police Department.
There will be more officers, where there will be mass gatherings of people, cultural programs will be held.
"Also, there will be more officers on the roads, traffic control will be carried out, the greatest attention will be paid to drunken drivers. I urge you, if you drink alcohol, not to get behind the wheel after drinking, because there will be a lot of raids," warned R. Matonis.
The officers have strengthened control since last Thursday, and during the first 5 days of the raid, they caught as many as 131 drunk drivers.
