The two-lane Didlauki street, which is much too wide, will get a new, more humane and pedestrian-friendly look. According to the street humanization scheme prepared by the municipality, Didlaukio Street is already underway. from Baltupio st. to Kalvarijų st. reconstruction works, and after the repair, pedestrians will move more comfortably on the street, traffic will become safer, more orderly parking solutions will be found, and the street itself will acquire a more aesthetic appearance. The municipality allocated more than 250 for the renovation works of Didlaukis street. euros.
The repair is planned to be completed by the end of December. Pedestrian paths will be fixed, entrances to the territories will be redesigned to ensure priority for pedestrians, and in the spring, new vegetation will be planted here, which will provide more coziness.
"Citizens' movement habits are changing, so the city's infrastructure must also change, taking into account everyone's needs and balancing them. Therefore, when carrying out street repairs, we aim to use the opportunity to make them more comfortable and safer for everyone in the city. According to the same principle, this year we plan to fix two more streets - Šaltkalvių street and the connecting street between J. Baltrušaitių street and Laisvės avenue. In the future, there should be even more such friendly streets for the townspeople," says Raivydas Rakauskas, adviser to the municipal administration.
The managed section of the Didlaukis Street carriageway will narrow slightly: the traffic organization will remain the same - one lane in each direction, and enough space will be left for public transport. Narrower traffic lane conditions and safer speeds are expected. A new asphalt surface, road shoulders, sidewalk tiles will be laid, pedestrian crossings will be remodeled, parking spaces will be marked, and new greenery will be planted in the spring.
In order for road users to experience as little inconvenience as possible, temporary warning road signs, directional guidelines and information stands were installed during the renovation works of Didlaukis street.
This year, even more efforts and about 37 million have been allocated to improving the city's infrastructure and managing the city. euro budget and funds from the Road Maintenance and Development Program: about 25 km of streets were paved, 34 km of sidewalks were built and repaired, and about 15 km of gravel roads were paved in various neighborhoods.
