Passenger and freight train traffic on the railway section will be temporarily suspended from June 16–19 Klaipeda–Plungė. During the interruption of train traffic, repair work on the Kūlupėnai railway bridge will continue.
With plans to suspend train traffic on the Klaipėda–Plungė section for four days, the LTG Group passenger transport companyLTG Link" informs about changes to train routes on June 16-19 and regrets any temporary inconvenience.
Trains on the Vilnius–Klaipėda route will run less frequently – instead of the usual 10-12 trips per day, there will be 8 trips. Passengers will be transported by train from Vilnius to Plungė, and on the section from Plungė to Klaipėda – by bus. At that time, the routes connecting Klaipė and Radviliškis (Klaipėda–Šiauliai–Radviliškis, Klaipėda–Šiauliai–Klaipėda and Radviliškis–Šiauliai–Klaipėda) will not be operated.
Modern and comfortable buses will be used for passenger transportation on the Plungė–Klaipėda section, which will have air conditioning and will be able to carry luggage. Due to the limited number of seats on the buses, it is recommended to book tickets in advance on the website ltglink.lt or in the LTG Link mobile app.
The bridge, built almost a hundred years ago in the Kūlupėnai eldership of the Kretinga district, is part of the most intensively used railway line Vilnius-Klaipėda, and is also preserved for public viewing.
LTG Infra, a railway infrastructure company of the LTG Group, began repair work on the Kūlupėnai railway bridge in May of this year to ensure safe passenger and freight train traffic. After this repair, the bridge will be able to be used for another 50 years.
Normal train traffic on the Klaipėda–Plungė section will resume on June 20.
