Today, the passenger transport company of the LTG group "LTG Link" is launching electronic ticket sales for trips starting from May 14, with newly applied dynamic pricing on 4 more routes. This means that from May 14, those traveling on the routes Kaunas–Šiauliai–Kaunas, Kaunas–Marijampolė–Kaunas, Vilnius–Trakai–Vilnius, Vilnius–Varėna–Marcinkonys–Varėna–Vilnius and those who buy tickets in advance will pay up to 40 percent less than the regular price. And the sale of tickets with dynamic pricing for those traveling on the international route Vilnius–Riga–Vilnius starts tomorrow – April 15.
Dynamic pricing is a method of setting prices that change based on demand, seasonality, competition, and other conditions. For LTG Link train passengers purchasing tickets on the above routes, dynamic pricing will allow them to save money by purchasing tickets in advance, as well as to choose the time of travel according to their planned budget.
"The pilot application of dynamic pricing on the Vilnius-Kaunas route, which has been ongoing for more than half a year, has shown that the number of passengers purchasing tickets in advance has almost tripled. The ability to purchase tickets cheaper encourages advance travel planning, which allows LTG Link to plan passenger flows more effectively and ensure a positive travel experience," - says Kristina Meidė, head of LTG Link.
According to K. Meidė, a particularly positive news is that dynamic pricing will also be applied on the popular international route Vilnius.-Riga-Vilnius, which carried about 65 passengers in its first year.
By displaying the flights of the selected day in the LTG Link ticket sales system, passengers will see ticket prices on different routes and will be able to choose the most suitable travel time accordingly. Importantly, once dynamic pricing is introduced, passenger benefits and commercial discounts applied by LTG Link will continue to apply when purchasing tickets.
When purchasing train tickets on routes with dynamic pricing, a month before the planned trip, tickets will cost up to 40 percent less. Over time, as the specific travel time approaches and taking into account the remaining free seats on the train, the ticket price will approach the regular price. In the last days, when purchasing tickets for more crowded trains, their price may be up to 10 percent lower.
larger than normal.
For example, the regular ticket price for a train from Vilnius to Kaunas is 8 euros. If the ticket is purchased in advance - The lowest price can be as low as 5 euros, and if the train is already full and the ticket is purchased at the last minute, the price can be as high as 8,80 euros. Trains run about 40 times a day between Vilnius and Kaunas, so passengers can choose the most suitable time and price.
