Although we will still experience frost in the country until mid-week, the weather will start to warm up from Tuesday, says Vytautas Patašius, a forecaster at the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service. According to him, the highest air temperature in Lithuania will prevail on Wednesday - it will warm up to 18-23 degrees.
Frost is still expected on the soil surface on Tuesday
Lithuania will still remain under the influence of the cyclone on Tuesday night. Therefore, according to the weather forecaster, rain may fall in some regions of the country.
"It will rain in places, mainly in the southeastern regions of the country, but light rain will prevail. Thunderstorms may still occur in some places at the beginning of the night. In the second half of the night, the clouds will disperse, and in northern Lithuania it will clear up completely. The northwestern, northerly wind will be weak, reaching 3–8 m/s. When the wind subsides, fog will form in places," says V. Patašius.
At that time, the temperature at night in most of the country should remain positive and will reach 4–9 degrees. However, frost is still possible in Northern Lithuania at night.
"Only in Northern Lithuania will it cool down to 1-3 degrees Celsius in places, and frosts of up to 2 degrees Celsius are expected on the soil surface in some places," the forecaster predicts.
The area of higher atmospheric pressure will strengthen during the day, so there will be little cloudiness and no significant precipitation. The wind may also strengthen slightly, with gusts reaching 9–14 m/s.
As the sun's rays warm up, the temperature will rise above 20 degrees in some places. Overall, Lithuania will warm up to 16–21 degrees, but it will remain cooler on the western outskirts, 10–15 degrees Celsius.
It will rain in many places on Wednesday, the air will warm up to 18-23 degrees
Although positive temperatures will prevail in many areas on Wednesday night, like on Tuesday, it will still be cold in the north of the country.
"The lowest temperature at night will reach 2–7 degrees Celsius, but frost of 0–2 degrees Celsius is forecast on the soil surface in Northern Lithuania in some places," says V. Patašius.
On Wednesday, there will be brief showers in some places, with light rain prevailing, but the weather will be slightly warmer.
"It will get even warmer than Tuesday, thermometers will show 18-23 degrees, but it will be cooler than usual on the coast, where it will warm up to 15-17 degrees Celsius," the forecaster indicates.
Rain is expected in most parts of the country on Thursday
V. Patašius says that another cyclone will approach Lithuania on Thursday, so rain is expected in many regions of the country during the night and day.
"It will rain in places at night, and most of Lithuania will experience short rain during the day. During the day, there may be thunder and lightning in some places along with the rain. The wind will be light at night, blowing from the southwest, west during the day, 8–13 m/s," the weather forecaster predicts.
According to him, a warm night is expected on Thursday, as the thermometer will not drop below 6–11 degrees Celsius, and during the day the air will warm up to 16–21 degrees Celsius, and in the western regions to 12–15 degrees Celsius.
After pleasant warmth, it will cool down on Friday
Due to the cyclone, rainy weather will continue in Lithuania on Friday, with thunderstorms in some places.
"Short rain is expected in many places both at night and during the day. Thunderstorms can also be expected during the day. The wind is also weak at night, and during the day it will already be from the west, 7–12 m/s," says V. Patašius.
Although Friday night will remain warm, with temperatures expected to be 4-9 degrees Celsius, the daytime temperature will be lower than on other days of this week - the air will warm up to 12-17 degrees, and only 9-11 degrees on the coast.
