The spring weather continues to change like a kaleidoscope. According to forecaster Elvyra Latvėnaitė, a wetter cyclone system has established itself in Lithuania, which promises not only heavy rain, but also strong winds and a brief return of frost.
"Today, the valley of the cyclone named Lorenz with a cold atmospheric front drenched Lithuania with rain and blew with gusty winds," says the forecaster.
On Thursday This cyclone will come even closer to our country and with its windy western part will reach all of Lithuania. Another atmospheric front will bring a new portion of precipitation - in some places mixed: sleet or even ice grains.
The cyclone over Lithuania will last until of Saturday, and later, weakening, it will turn towards Poland. Throughout this period strong wind – mainly from the north – will remain felt throughout the country, and on the coast and over the Baltic its gusts may be even more intense.
According to current forecasts, on Sunday and at the beginning of next week The cyclone, which has moved southeast, will strengthen again and return closer to Lithuania, bringing wind and moisture with it.
"Winds will be stronger throughout Lithuania, mostly from the north," predicts Latvėnaitė. Only from the middle of next week The winds will gradually subside.
After a short warm-up tonight Cold air from the north will sweep into the country again. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights It will be cold again, and when it clears up, light frosts will appear in some places.
Nuo Sunday The heat will gradually return - frosts will no longer be a threat at night, and the temperature will rise and become more pleasant during the day.
However, there will be scolded: This week will see frequent rain, sometimes with sleet or even freezing rain. Next week, heavy rain is forecast, but without mixed precipitation.
"So when we get heavy rain, let's not forget that it will not only water, but can also wash away the dried soil surface," the forecaster reminds.
