Although there are few signs of warmth yet, forecaster Elvyra Latvėnaitė promises that the frost will gradually recede in the coming days, but its place will be taken by changeable and rainy weather.
"There is no warmer news yet. The nasty frosts will continue to bite at night, but the bitter north and northwest winds will ease," says the forecaster.
Currently, anticyclone "Petra" has established itself in Lithuania, bringing drier and colder weather. Only on Monday will this anticyclone retreat to the southeast, making way for new changes.
On Tuesday, a wetter and more turbulent cyclone system will begin to strengthen from the north and northwest. Atmospheric front clouds will travel across the Baltics and Lithuania, bringing short-term rain. Stronger westerly winds will blow, and with them warmer air will finally arrive from the southwest, which will dispel frost.
On Wednesday, according to current data, a small but stormy cyclone lingering near Lithuania will not only drench the country with rain that day, but also on Thursday night, while strong westerly winds will continue to cause concern.
The second half of the week will be very changeable: after a somewhat calmer day on Thursday, wetter and stormier cyclones will again reach the Baltics and Lithuania from Friday.
And yet, there is one piece of good news - the warmer air arriving with southwest winds will not only get rid of the frost, but will also gradually improve the temperature during the day.
"It should cool down again this weekend," warns E. Latvėnaitė, reminding us that we will still have to wait for a breakthrough in the heat, but there is already hope for better weather.
