The weather in Lithuania is changing again. A cyclone named Wammes is retreating eastward with brief rain and a cool breeze, giving way to anticyclone Xara, which, according to weather forecaster Elvyra Latvėnaitė, will cover a vast territory - from Lapland to Italy.
"A calmer, drier and increasingly warmer anticyclone, named Xara I-II-III, will stretch from Lapland to Italy, and from Sunday it will cover the Baltics and Lithuania with its calmest, central part," says E. Latvėnaitė.
According to the weather forecaster, cooler weather will reluctantly leave eastern Lithuania on Saturday, but true summer warmth is forecast for Sunday and especially Monday. The winds will die down and the sky will be covered with sunshine.
"On Monday evening and Tuesday, a front should 'sneak' over the Baltic and Lithuanian atmosphere, bring nice showers, and after a brief burst of heat, it will refresh and wash away the dust," the weather forecaster predicts.
After brief rainfall, a drier period is forecast again. Another anticyclone will begin to expand from the west, but there is no guarantee of calm yet. In the northwest and north, an active cyclone system will continue to try to approach the Baltic region.
"So at their junction, the wind will blow a little stronger again, already in the evening, and will, as always, favor the coast. It will be a little cooler, it may get even colder at the end of next week, but again only for a short time," says forecaster Latvėnaitė.
According to her, there will be some rain with thunderstorms, but summer will continue - even if it is sometimes changeable, in Lithuanian terms.
