After a calm and summer-like warm weekend, changeable weather awaits Lithuania again. Forecaster Elvyra Latvėnaitė warns that the influence of the warm anticyclone named Xara is ending.
"The anticyclone, named Xara, with dry and warm weather, is unfortunately receding. Today it will still be warm, and in some places it will be quite hot. But in the evening, the clouds of the atmospheric front will reach the western regions, so there will first be refreshing and cooling rain. With it, the greater heat will end," says the forecaster.
The weather in the coming days will be determined by a cyclone system that is strengthening closer to the Baltic Sea.
"In the northwest, the system of wetter and more turbulent cyclones strengthening in the north will expand closer to the Baltics, the clouds of atmospheric fronts will often bring rain, sometimes with thunderstorms, strong westerly winds will blow, and it will be cooler," predicts Latvėnaitė.
From Thursday, the cyclones will move east, but Lithuania will remain in their western - wetter and cooler - part for some time. Only at the weekend will the situation start to change.
"Even cooler air will blow in from the north, it will be even cooler, especially at night. And in the west, with drier and warmer weather, the anticyclone will strengthen. We'll just have to wait for it - according to current data, until Sunday," the forecaster explains.
A heat wave is forecast again from Sunday and especially at the beginning of next week. There should be less rain, so we will be able to enjoy the summer warmth again for a short time.
