Forecaster Elvyra Latvėnaitė reports that the coming nights will still be frosty, and cool, changeable weather will continue to prevail during the days.
"The anticyclone, named Simone II, with dry, calm, and cool weather, is still holding over the Baltics and Central Europe," says the forecaster.
Lithuania is currently located on the eastern, coldest and most restless edge of the anticyclone. At the same time, the wetter cyclone system that has established itself further east is not retreating, so we will still experience short rains in the eastern part of the country during the day.
On Wednesday, a small cyclone will reach Lithuania from the northwest. Its atmospheric front clouds may bring fog or mist at night, and temperatures will remain low. It will rain more during the day, and warmer air from the southwest will briefly reach Lithuania. However, at the same time, the westerly and later northwesterly winds will strengthen.
Starting Thursday, the Baltics and Lithuania will once again find themselves at the intersection of two weather-determining systems: a drier anticyclone will strengthen in the west, while a cyclone system will remain active in the east.
"With stronger northerly winds, colder air will blow again, so we may also experience mixed precipitation on Thursday," warns E. Latvėnaitė.
However, according to current data, wetter and slightly warmer cyclones should arrive from the south and southeast towards the Baltics and Lithuania at the end of the week.
"The weekend and the beginning of next week may be warmer. The frosts will recede at night, and to the joy of farmers and gardeners, it will rain more often and abundantly - although for now mainly in the southern and eastern regions," the forecaster predicts.
So while we'll still have to endure cooler weather, nature promises at least a brief respite with humidity and warmer days.
