After the weekend's storms and strong cyclone "Veit", which brought wind and rain, calmer, but still cool weather will settle in Lithuania. Forecaster Elvyra Latvėnaitė warns that the cold will recede slowly, and real warmth will have to wait until the weekend.
"A cyclone named Veit, bringing nasty weather, will move northeast. Tuesday will be drier, at least until tomorrow afternoon. But still windy," the forecaster comments.
However, the calm is temporary. A new cyclone "Wammes" will reach Lithuania on Wednesday, bringing rain again, although the wind will not be as strong as in recent days.
According to E. Latvėnaitė, the weather will start to change fundamentally from Thursday: "An anticyclone with drier weather will strengthen over Scandinavia, the Baltics and Eastern Europe, finally blocking the path for moist western cyclones."
However, not all of Lithuania will be dry yet. The eastern and northeastern regions will still be under the influence of the cyclone system in eastern Europe - rain is possible here, and the wind will strengthen from the northwest. This means that the heat is not going to subside in a hurry in the coming days.
"The cold air that has broken through from the north and northwest will not be in a hurry to retreat, so weather models have "postponed" warmer weather for the weekend and the beginning of next week," says the forecaster.
In the middle of the week, nights will be cool, especially where the sky is clear. Days will not be hot either. However, from the weekend, the weather will start to warm up - both during the day and at night. At the same time, the wind is calming down, and the rain forecast is weakening - it is likely that the weekend and the beginning of next week will be without significant rain.
This means that fans of summer weather will be able to breathe a little - at least for a short time, the heat will return to Lithuania without any problems.
