Warm, summer-like weather will arrive in Lithuania this weekend. However, according to Tadas Kantautas, a forecaster at the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service (LHMT), it will not linger in the country for long.
According to the forecaster, on Saturday night, the low pressure area will recede, clouds will disperse in most of the country, and the sky will clear, only a little more clouds may remain in the eastern part of the country.
"The chance of rain will be low. The wind will blow from the northwest, north, it will be strongest at the beginning of the night, blowing at a speed of 6-11 m/s, then it will calm down. A mass of cooler air will flow into our country from the north, so when it clears up and the wind calms down, the temperature will drop rapidly, leaving only 6-11 degrees Celsius in the morning," T. Kantautas told Elta.
According to him, no rain is expected on Saturday, and the temperature will rise to 19-24 degrees Celsius.
"On Saturday, a high-pressure area will approach our country from the west. Partly cloudy weather will prevail, with slightly more clouds only moving over the eastern regions of the country. Rain is not expected. In the first half of the day, the northwest and north winds will strengthen slightly, it will be strongest in the eastern regions, calmest in the west of the country, but in the afternoon the winds will calm down throughout the country. The cool air mass will begin to retreat from our country, so the temperature will rise to 19-24 degrees Celsius in the afternoon," the forecaster says.
Anticyclone will determine the weather in Lithuania on Sunday
As T. Kantautas told Elta, clear weather will prevail in Lithuania on Sunday, with no rain expected.
"On Sunday, the weather in our country will be determined by an anticyclone. Clear weather will prevail at night, with little cloudiness during the day. Nelis. The wind will be barely noticeable at night, and a weak northwesterly, northerly wind will blow during the day," the forecaster said.
"Due to the clear sky and light wind, the temperature will drop to 6-11 degrees Celsius at night, but during the day it will be pleasant with temperatures of 20-25 degrees, only by the sea it may be a degree cooler," said a representative of the LHMT.
Temperatures will rise to 23-28 degrees Celsius on Monday
According to the LHMT forecaster, Monday night will be clear and dry, with a light wind. The temperature will not drop below 8–13 degrees Celsius.
"Monday will remain partly cloudy and dry in many areas, only in the western areas will clouds begin to increase in the afternoon, here it will rain briefly in places, there may be thunder and lightning. The wind will blow from the south, southwest until noon, later it will turn from the southwest, west, but it will remain weak throughout the day. Very warm weather will sweep into the country, the temperature will rise to 23-28 degrees in the afternoon, only by the sea it will be a little cooler," said T. Kantautas.
It will be cold again on Tuesday.
True, it is predicted that the country will cool down a bit again on Tuesday, with stronger winds in places.
"On Tuesday night, it will rain briefly in many areas, and during the day, mainly in the northeastern areas. A stronger westerly wind will blow, which will drive the heat away from our country," the forecaster said.
"Due to dense clouds, the temperature will not drop below 10-15 degrees at night, but during the day it will not rise above 18-23 degrees, and it may be another degree cooler on the coast," he added.
