On Wednesday, a new wave of cyclones will reach Lithuania again - cyclone Yannick, traveling through the northern Baltics, will bring heavy rain to some parts of the country, while other parts will be more moderate. Forecaster Elvyra Latvėnaitė predicts that the coming days promise a real weather roller coaster marathon - from gusts of wind, heavy rain and thunderstorms to promises of a warm, sunny summer weekend.
"Today, another cyclone, named Yannick, will travel through the northern Baltics, and its atmospheric front clouds will again water some more and others less," says E. Latvėnaitė. However, even after the cyclone system moves east, we will remain in its western part on Thursday - stormy and rainy.
There will be more rain on Thursday, and severe thunderstorms will rumble in the sky again, and strong westerly winds will not stop. Friday is forecast to be especially windy, and the rain will not let up, so the summer mood will have to wait a little longer. The heat will not be pleasant until Sunday - the weather will remain cool and changeable.
However, changes are already close at hand: from Saturday, an anticyclone named Zora will begin to approach the Baltics and Lithuania, bringing calmer and drier weather, while a warmer air mass will begin to flow from the western regions. "The warmest should be on Sunday and Monday," the forecaster says hopefully.
Summer is only in its infancy so far, but according to the weather forecaster, it is likely that the rain will decrease after the weekend, although it may still cool down a bit after a short respite. Nature reminds us that June in Lithuania still likes to send contrasts, so the warm weekend will be only a short respite against the backdrop of changeable weather.
