Students of the Multimedia and Computer Design study program of the Faculty of Fundamental Sciences of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU), who attended the course "Computer Game Design", received a practical work task - to create an educational game concept that helps to better memorize and understand the educational material.
While working in teams, students applied selected creativity promotion methods and game design theory to their practical work. They figured out where and when the action of the game will take place, how the characters in the game will behave and look, what challenges the player will face to win the game. The students also defined clear rules for the game, including as many game mechanics as possible to help maintain interest.
Students came up with the game's story, drew the game's setting and characters. At the end of the course, students presented 23 different game ideas in video format, showing how to turn learning into a fun game.
