With less and less time left until the Vilnius Sports Festival, we suggest you take a look at the active program of the festival - this year it will please even the most discerning. Festival visitors can expect a powerlifting tournament, a CrossFit competition, a martial arts festival, and the Lithuanian street gymnastics championship. Athletes from abroad will even participate in three of the four events. In addition to the competition, of course, there is also entertainment for their spectators.
The strongest powerhouses in the world are at the festival
The "Savickas Classic" strongman tournament is coming to the Vilnius Sports Festival for the fourth year in a row. Traditionally, the strongest athletes from Lithuania, Georgia, Poland, Latvia, Estonia and Belarus will compete in it.
"These are the world's top ten athletes. It will be a really serious competition, it will not be easy for the Lithuanians, they will also need the support of the fans", said their organizer Žydrūnas Savickas about the competition.
Lithuania's honor will be defended by world youth vice-champion Martynas Brusokas, Vidas Blekaitis, Karolis Aleksandravičius and Mindaugas Jaras.
"Whether I myself will run "to the field", we will see on the day of the festival. Let's leave a little intrigue, - joked the strongest man on the planet Ž. Savick. - There are thoughts of participating, because I am currently in very good athletic shape, but I have not decided yet."
Athletes will compete in tractor pull, dead lift and weight lifting events. Three more matches will be revealed as the competition approaches. "It will be a traditional strength match that will help to find out the strongest participant. We will see various relay races, weight-bearing, so it will be interesting for the spectators as well", assured Ž. Savick.
During the breaks between the matches, the spectators will be treated to various competitions related to power sports, and the best performers will be awarded with special prizes from the sponsors of the "Savickas Classic" tournament.
CrossFit competitions have participants from all over the world
The strength and endurance training program CrossFit is becoming more and more popular in Lithuania, so for the third year in a row, the "Lithuanian throwdown" competition of this sport will also visit the "Vilnius Sport Festival 2017". They will take place on both days of the festival.
"We are the first CrossFit sports club in Lithuania. We help people improve their health and overall fitness by taking into account everyday actions - landing, lifting, carrying, pushing. The most important thing is to prepare the body for unforeseen cases," said Paulius Jurėnas, the founder and trainer of the Brasa CrossFit sports club, which organizes the competition and the introduction of CrossFit to festival visitors.
"Lithuanian throwdown" is an open Lithuanian CrossFit championship, where athletes can check their fitness level and overcome new challenges. The matches are not revealed until the start of the competition, which only intrigues the spectators and participants even more.
"There is currently a two-week qualification. Almost half of the participants are from abroad. Everything happens online - participants perform certain tasks, film, and we judge. Only the 30 strongest men and 16 women will enter the main competition at the Vilnius Sports Festival. In the competition, we test strength in 10 areas: physical endurance, cardio endurance, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, dexterity, balance and accuracy," P. Jurėnas taught in more detail.
Currently, athletes from the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Holland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Switzerland and JAV.
Meanwhile, on the second day of the festival, festival visitors will not only be able to try CrossFit training, but also get to know the trainers. "Both on Saturday and Sunday, people will be able to have a personal consultation with the trainer. In it, he will talk about how we set goals and how we achieve them in our sports club. We always first find out a person's goals, his physical capacity, and only then adapt the program", said P. Jurėnas.
Familiarity with traditional martial arts
The fifth hall of the Lietexpo exhibition center will live in the rhythm of the fight. A festival of traditional martial arts will take place here - competitions and exhibitions.
Representatives of Niat Nam, Shaolin Wushu, karate and other traditional martial arts will participate in the traditional martial arts championship.
"There will be a lot of things in the competition. "Competitions of combat action complexes, full contact fights according to Sanda rules, light contact fights according to Qingda rules, free technique performances and Tuishou wrestling will be held," said Daividas Vashkelis, who organizes these competitions.
Participants of the traditional martial arts festival will come from the United Kingdom, Belarus, France, Norway, Poland, Latvia, and it is expected to receive participants from Israel and other countries. Of course, fighters from Lithuania will also compete.
Throughout the weekend, festival visitors will have the opportunity to get to know traditional martial arts. "LitexpoIn the conference center of the fifth hall of the exhibition hall, there will be an exhibition where representatives of each martial art will present their activities.
"Our main goal is to share experiences between different traditional martial arts. We also want to spread the idea to people, introduce them to martial arts," commented Daividas Vashkelis.
Street gymnasts fight on the bars
16 of the strongest Lithuanian street gymnasts will show off their muscles in the street gymnastics tournament "Vilnius street workout battle" held at the Vilnius Sports Festival.
"The competition will take place in a 1-on-1 duel format, so it should be even more attractive to the spectators. All duels will take place in freestyle. Unseen static and dynamic gymnastic elements and tricks await the spectators, which will be combined into impressive combinations on the crossbar and parallel bars," said Denisas Tomkutonis, the organizer of this competition.
The competition will be judged by arbitrators from Latvia, who themselves participated in the World Street Gymnastics Championship this year.
Spectators are also waiting for various competitions in which both adult men and women, as well as children, can participate. In the contests, the organizers of the contests give one-time visits or even subscriptions to the "Mayhem House" studio in Vilnius to the best performers. In it, coaches and street gymnastics world champions will teach the basics of street gymnastics.
